Let's talk about Food

Helloooo people :D

I present to you...... The Jennifer Snack Stack! :D

Well, depending on how much you eat it can be a snack or a meal. I brought it to uni as part of my morning tea snack :3 but it surprisingly was quite filling O:
It's really easy and quick to prepare! Super yummy and good for you too :3

How to make~ :D
1. Cook two eggs how you like them. I like my eggs fried sunny side up, but because I was bringing this to school, I flipped them over when I was frying them so that they'd keep longer.
2. While the eggs are cooking, prepare your vegetables. I just grabbed whatever there was from my fridge, which happened to be snow pea sprouts and cucumber. I originally wanted baby spinach tho but there was none >: Give them a quick wash and drain them. Cut the cucumbers into little soldiers of around 3cm in length.
3. Cut and avocado. Eggs should be done now~ :3 put them onto a plate to cool.
4. Stack the contents! Place the cucumbers at the bottom, followed by the leafy vegetables of your choice. Add some smoked salmon, I normally use two medium sized pieces. Then top it off with the avocado slice by slice and layer as much as you want. Remember to leave space for your eggs! Now go eat your breakfast so that the eggs have time to cool (: since we're putting them directly onto the avocado. It's not good to put hot things and cold things together if you want them to keep O:
5. Place the eggs on the top of the stack, season with salt and pepper and ta-da~! :D Ready to be omnomnom-ed at school :3

So I went to New Shanghai with my mum yesterday after a bit of shopping since sales are on and what not. New Shanghai is a  newly opened chinese (if that wasn't obvious)  restaurant at Queen's plaza that always has a line (when its food time i.e. lunch, dinner etc).

The decor and mood of the restaurant was really good and made you feel as if you were in Asia (but 100x cleaner). However it was just as crowded and extremely noisy. The service was normal, on the verge of bad nearly because all staff were so busy it was quite hard to get their attention when you needed something. One thing I didn't like was the fact that we had to share tables. I don't usually mind as this is considered the norm in Asia however, we are currently in Australia where you almost never share tables. I have been to restaurants where I had to share tables but I was fine with that since the waiters always nicely notified/ asked us if we minded but at New Shanghai they just brought to the tables and expected us to share without telling us first. They were just like, ok groups 17, 18, 19? and when all groups approached the waiter he walks and leads as to a long table and then left. Not a nice feeling. Putting me in a worse mood was the fact that we had to ask for water while we were having our meals, considering the restaurant image they were trying to portray, that kind of service was just not good enough. The seats we were given were rather cramped and I had to walk halfway through to restaurant to make a call because there was no reception at where we sat. Quite irrelevant, but at that point I was starting to become a little unhappy and the no reception just fuelled it even more. Okay, to the main point: food.

I orded the pan fried pork dumplings, mum ordered the Shepard's purse and pork wonton soup. In addition to this, we also ordered the Deep fried crispy skin chicken with special garlic and chili sauce on rice to share.

Pan fried pork dumpling:

All the dumplings had holes in them from inadequate folding which was really disappointing and made eating it extremely difficult because every time I bit into one, the juices would squirt out into my hair or into my mum's face. The dumpling were really oily and became quite sickening. However they were the best out of the lot.

Shepard's purse and pork wonton soup:

This dish had the worst wontons I have ever tasted. I don't think you can even call them wontons. They tasted like soggy dumplings, the skin was too chewy and hard and the fillings were less than those in dumplings and were very hard. Wontons can be translated into "swallowing a cloud", describing the taste when one eats a wonton. They are supposed to be fluffy and light, not chewing and hard.

Deep fried crispy skin chicken with special garlic and chili sauce on rice:

This dish was very disappointing. The side of cabbages were cold and tasteless and oily too. The chicken was nothing special and the rice tasted like it came out of a microwave, a couple of days old maybe? It was hard and barely warm. This dish cost $12.80 which  was a massive rip considering the serving size could not even compare to rice/vegetable/meat sets that I've eaten at some other restaurants that aren't even over $10. The "special garlic and chili sauce" was also a disappointment, there was hardly any hint of garlic, let alone chili. I can't eat spicy things that have chili in them at all, yet I could eat the sauce, which was an indication of how little (or probably none) chili they used in the sauce. The taste of the sauce, although is a matter of personal opinion, I found rather off putting. It was so sickly sweet it made me wonder just how much sugar they put into it to be able to make something as salty as soy sauce taste so sweet.

All in all, New Shanghai was a big disappointment and I wouldn't go back unless I had to, (If a friend held their party there or something). The decor is great and one of the best I've seen around, but if you're looking for a decent meal, I would recommend that you go somewhere else.

Why shouldn't you walk in front of me? Because I am super creepy 8)
On my way to school today, this super cute guy was walking in front of meeeeee, how lucky am I? ;D getta check out cute guys on my way to school ;DD

He was white, relatively pale, very (I say very, because he was considerably taller than me) tall and lanky. He had sandy light brown hair and I really like the stuff he wore ~ owo
He wore a velveteen blazer that was a deep dark brown with a tinge of purple, it fitted him well except for the sleeves. He was a tad skinny so the sleeves looked loose on him, but he had broad shoulders. *u*
He wore moss grey jeans that weren't too skinny or loose and dark brown leather sneakers. Aaahhh leather sneakers look so good on the right ppl *u* He had a canvas side bag that was moss green with a touch of grey and it was those really casual ones that can go with anything. I really like the bag too *u* ehehehe oh and he wore these vintage sunnies that looked so good on him *o*

uhaehaehae this is why you shouldn't walk in front me 8) I will check the hell out of you 8)
